CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR 2011:2012
This year we will be open shortly before
Christmas to just after New Year, for those wishing to get away at
Christmas.
Gite Rental: Our Christmas and New Year
special includes all the following:

The house will be decorated for Christmas,
including Christmas tree and stockings

Christmas crackers

A welcome basket of festive goodies
including local wine, cheese, paté and bread amongst many other
things

All firewood, for the wood burning stove in
the sitting room which heats the radiators throughout the house

Electricity included - we have additional
electric heaters in bedrooms and downstairs rooms

We have plenty of attractive china place
settings for that extra special Christmas feast, plus table
cloths, napkins etc. Plus ample cooking equipment.
Other things to make your Christmas break a
comfortable and happy holiday:

Food cupboard stocked with normal kitchen
items such as sugar, coffee, tea, drinking chocolate, tinned
toms, pasta, rice, herbs and spices, ketchup, pickles and much
more

Shower gels and shampoos / conditioners

All towels and flannels

Dressing gowns
-
We have masses of reading books, fiction and
non-fiction.

A video library

French and UK channels on the TV

What to do over Christmas
-
There are several Christmas fêtes including
one on Christmas eve at La Châtre.

You can pre-book a Christmas Eve meal
locally (Christmas dinner is traditionally served on Christmas
Eve and can go on till the early hours in some cases!)

Alternatively, you can book an at home meal
for Christmas - the local supermarkets offer a spectacular menu
that is collected to be served/cooked at home - more details on
request. Average menu per person is 18 to 25 euros

Winter walking: We have many walking
routes to enjoy the crisp sunny winter days.

Town Visits: We have some delightful
towns within an hour's drive. Medieval town centres, excellent
restaurants and cafés, quality shopping and more

Theatre: There are several theatres
in the region. One in particular is Le Tarmac at Chateauroux
offering seasonal entertainment, both afternoons and evenings.
